Visual Basic has succeeded as a development platform because it allows developers to build Windows applications so quickly. But as many developers have discovered, the fact that Visual Basic is so easy to use is both a blessing and a curse. If you are new to Visual Basic, there are many challenges beyond learning the syntax and the Windows event model. Defining a development methodology, writing reusable code and implementing version control, are just a few of the many areas that require careful planning before starting a large scale development project with Visual Basic.
Essential Visual Basic is designed to get you productive with Microsoft's Visual Basic 4.0 development environment. In this course you will gain the skills and disciplines required to create a Windows application from the initial design phase through the application distribution and on-going maintenance phases. As the course progresses, lab exercises build successively through the development life cycle of a complete Windows application. By stepping through the entire development life cycle, you will see the many strengths of Visual Basic. The course also emphasizes utilizing a framework for writing and implementing Visual Basic code that is modular, maintainable and reusable.
